All our maps at UK Wall Maps come in a range of paper finishes, this handy guide will help you make the right choice for your particular mapping needs.
Standard Matt Paper:
Our standard matt paper is a 120gsm coated & bonded paper. It is a high-quality mid-weight paper which holds colours well and is good for high-resolution printing. We've been using this paper for our maps for many years and find that it makes great quality maps but at an affordable price.
Face Laminated Finish:
The Face Laminated finish sees the map printed on 100gsm paper which then has a 50 micron laminate applied to the front (or face) of the map. This gloss laminate not only looks good, but makes the map more durable both in terms of physical handling but also UV protects the map to ensure the map doesn't yellow in direct sunlight. This Laminate is also suitable for use with Dry-Wipe markers, making this finish particularly good for offices and warehouses.
The Encapsulated finish is a paper map which is laminated front and back, using the same laminate as the Face Laminated finish. As well as UV protecting the map it makes for the most durable finish we offer and means your map should last a long time.
Some of our products are intended for active use on the hills or like our Road Map range - when you are out on the road whether for work or on holiday, and we can fold our maps to make them easier to manage in your hands. The folded maps are printed on a slightly thinner 100gsm paper making this easier to fold and when you're out and about.
